Interested

If you’re interested in our passion and curious to learn more about what model flying is really like, you’ve come to the right place. As a beginner, it’s best to join a club to gain experience and knowledge from other members.

Model flying isn’t just about flying; it’s also about building aircraft. There’s a real sense of satisfaction when you know that your plane can glide smoothly through the air after completing a long construction project.

Building is flying, and flying is building.

You can go very far with building, but nowadays, it’s much easier to get an aircraft into the air. Thanks to materials like EPO foam, you can buy nearly ready-to-fly models. These planes only require a few hours of assembly, allowing you to start flying quickly.

While there are also balsa wood kits that come mostly assembled, you can also opt for the real craftsmanship with balsa wood. This material is very light and easy to work with, but it requires some time and experience. Usually, you’ll spend weeks to years (depending on the size and details) building with balsa.

The propulsion systems for these models vary between electric or gasoline-powered motors. Within these, there are further divisions, such as propellers, EDF (electric ducted fan) systems, or turbine engines. The latter is prohibited at Breese Modelvleugels.

The cost of materials is up to you. There’s a lot of variety on the market, so this hobby doesn’t necessarily have to be expensive. For more information, feel free to visit us on a sunny Sunday at our flying field.

Instructor

Model flying isn’t as easy as it looks, but anyone can give it a try. Depending on the type of aircraft, even experienced pilots can face challenges.

Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced pilot, having an instructor or a helping hand can be very useful.

Any member with at least one year of experience may call themselves an instructor. Although not everyone has the same level of experience with every type of aircraft, it’s best to talk to the person who has the most expertise in the model you want to fly.

Every pilot or aspiring pilot has the opportunity to obtain a flight license. To do this, you’ll need an examiner.

If you ever need a helping hand or would like to earn your pilot’s license, don’t hesitate to ask us. Schedule an appointment with one of our instructors or examiners, and we’ll be happy to help you further.

You can also contact us through the contact form on our website.
